I need an intervention.

The more the show tries to tell me I'm supposed to feel sorry for Sam, added by the more fics I see with bottomSam or bottomJared, the less I like Sam or Jared in fics.

It's that the show just never let Sam apologize for his treatment of Dean and ficwriters never seem to be writing any such thing either. And as long as that's the case I find it harder and harder to retain any sympathy for the character whatsoever.

Maybe I just need to find a good fic that actually lets Sam apologize to Dean. And I don't mean one that makes Sam the victim with whom we all need to empathize. Right now I have zero or no empathy for Sam, so that'll only make me dislike him more.

YES! As long as Sam keeps going on his damage strewn way, blithely steamrolling past Dean's pain, I cannot have any kind of liking for him. And, to be honest, it's killing my liking for the show. I pretty much actively *dislike* him now, and in what is essentially a two-hander, that's disastrous.

I'm not going to help with your intervention, I'll be your pusher here. The show is always telling us how sympathetic and emo Sam is, just show it towards Dean.

Granted I've never been Sam's biggest fan, but my Sam hate has interfered with my SPN love at this point.
