I got so tired of the lack of a proper Grimm comm, that I ended up creating one myself.

The community is still a bit basic, I urgently need to find a way to add a proper background and stuff to a free community, but at least it's something.

Anyone want to join and/or play co-mod for me?

I've joined but I have no experience in being a co-mod. A Grimm community sounds good because I've been enjoying the show.

No worries, it's a new com, so any new member is more than welcome.

Just not sure where to advertise it, cause I haven't seen any Grimm communities so far.

I'd be grateful enough if you could help spread the word. Honestly, not sure if I'm any good at being a mod either, but I really felt that the series is so great that there should be a com for it.

I've joined, and posted some pimpage for you. This is a great idea, although I'm astonished that there was no comm for the show before this! I see a lot of people griping about it, but I really enjoy it, and the ratings are growing, so I can't be the only one!

What responsibilities would your co-mod have?

honestly, whatever you feel capable of doing.

First thing would be to help me pretty up the com :-), then helping me find stuff to post so people actually have something to pull them to the com. And you know the usual moderating stuff, aka keeping the peace and banning people who either post spam or cause trouble for the com in general. I only have so much time, so it'd be nice to have someone else looking out for those kind of things as well.

Funny bit, htbthomas just told me that there is apparantly grimm_tv which oddly enough didn't show up when I was looking for coms myself (at least not on the first two pages, most of which had to do with a movie of a similar name)

Huh! That comm didn't show up when I searched, either. I just took a look at it, and I really don't like the layout. It's *really* hard to read.

Sure, I can help you as co-mod, if you like. It'd be nice to have a small comm to hang around at. I have a little free time later on today, so I'll scout around for some promo pics and see if I can make some icons.

The other comm only has 300-some-odd members, so I suspect this comm might be small. But that's good, I think - a small group of nice people chatting about the show.

coolest, I took the background from the official nbc com and I personally think it looks awesome, though you might disagree with me on that ;-)

The only problem in prettying up the com, is that for now the com is a free com, I'm personally not able to make the com a paid one right now, though I know there is a way to put a background and a banner on a free journal, I just don't personally know how to do it.

I think it looks very nice! It's very easy to read.

I'm not very tech-savvy when it comes to banners and such. Maybe a member will come along who knows more about that stuff, and can help out.

oh the current background is just a basic theme, meant that I have the bg just no way how to put it in.

Though admittedly, I did think that this particular theme looked nice and the woodcutting kinda fits with the German background of the Grim wesens.

Though admittedly, I'd want a white reading frame with black letters on that cause white on black is hard to read for a lot of people.

Oh! Gotcha. Hmm... I think I'd like the NBC thing as a banner, but the black background would look just like the other comm. I do like the woodcut theme, and the light blue is very readable.

I wish I knew more about HTML and tinkering with layouts. I can do it a little bit, but most of the time I end up tearing my hair out!

But yeah, small coms can at times be more fun than the bigger ones.

I do wonder why that other com doesn't show up when you do search. I put grimm_cop on the community registry, just to make sure that people can find it when they go looking for Grimm communities.

With luck that registry will help! It could be that that other comm only has 300 members because no one can find it - maybe they'll find your comm instead...

I tried searching via Google and found comms for Grimm fic, Grimm kink, and Grimmcest, in addition to Grimm_tv. Nice, isn't it, that LJ's search engine is of no help whatsoever when you're trying to find a journal or comm?

Hmm...I'm wondering if maybe we should think of an angle that will make this comm *different* from the other comms. Offer something that the other comms don't have, that will entice people to come and join. If you think that's worthwhile, I'll take a look at the other comms this afternoon and see what they're *not* offering.

Good idea, just don't know enough about the other coms to say what that is, other than that we don't have a focus on slash or kink (even if it is allowed)

Hmm, maybe more of a focus on Nick, would fit with the com name, only, that'd mean losing out on Monroe stuff, which would be a damn shame...

I'm headed up to the mall for a little shopping, but after I get home I'll take a look at the other comms and see if I have any brainstorms. I just took a quick look at the main one, because it was so hard to read.

I'm kind of thinking that the slash and kink comms might actually be for that movie you mentioned? I know there's some Nick/Monroe fic, but I wouldn't think it would be a focus. But who knows!

Maybe we could have little contests, to submit the best icon each week, or the best drabble, or something like that. We could give the winner a little banner, something that wouldn't cost anything. :)

I was looking at the responses on the other post and thinking about what could set this com apart and it got me thinking of how many of us don't watch the ep live.

What if we set the com apart by having it be an international Grimm com, allowing people to comment even weeks after an ep has aired in the US. Maybe with a larger respect for spoilers or something like that.

Inviting people to give more thought out reviews than the squee posts you often get in live responses to eps?

I was thinking this afternoon - I re-watched the pilot a week or so ago. Maybe we could rewind things to the beginning, have members re-watch from 1.01 and chat about what happened in that ep with a little insight, rather than squee? I definitely wouldn't mind starting over from the beginning! Then we could pull in some new members who are just finding the show.

These days for me, this is probably my second fave show on tv right now. It's just so rare to have a show where the lead is such a genuinely nice guy.

I know that a lot of people called Nick boring at first, but honestly, these days the cocky arrogant anti-hero is one of the most common character types around. And there's only few of that character type where the actor pulls it off and gives us enough levels beneath that, for the character to be more than just that.

Spike and Dean Winchester give that, but most of the cocky arrogant anti-hero type don't go an inch beyond that.

I definitely agree with you on that, and I like the honest hero. I would like NIck to learn a little from Jim Ellison, quite frankly. Those are good men trying to save the people they love (whether or not they succeed).

I just got a DVR (is so untechnological it isn't funny) and recorded my first episode of Grimm this week. I have yet to watch it, but from what I've heard I'm sure it's right up my alley.

I'll join! Maybe I'll be able to expand on my fandoms for ficcage.

Definitely! Once I've watched a few episodes, I hope I'll be up for writing!
