Top Ten Scifi shows of all time

Recently trystan830 Put up a post about Newsarama's Top Ten Scifi shows

Since I disagreed so much with their list, or well just about over half of the shows that made it on that list, I figured I'd make my own list of the top ten Sci-Fi shows.

9. V (the original)
8. Star Trek: Deep Space 9
7. Quantum Leap
6. The Outer Limits
5. Twilight Zone
4. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
3. Babylon 5
2. Farscape
1. Alien Nation


And for the record, Alien Nation is still and will always be my all time fave Sci-Fi show of all time, no matter how short a time it ran. It was everything science fiction is supposed to be, aka the exploration of a modern topic in a science fiction context. And I've never seen a show that did what it did, even half as good.

Hell even my aunt who usually doesn't bother with anything fictional, loved this series.

I agree with the presence of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on a best of list. I loved Quantum Leap when it was on the air but found it did not hold up over time. I preferred the big screen version of Alien Nation to the series. I think the addition of Firefly is a sentimental one, because it was not given a full opportunity to find itself and broaden its audience.

My list would include Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, as well as (in no particular order), The X-Files, Supernatural, Star Trek (TOS), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Space: 1999 (in all its cheesy glory). I know that leaves a few holes on the list. I need some more time to ponder :)

Personally I despise Firefly, so that one's never going to get on any 'best of list' created by me*g*

I do love Buffy and Supernatural, and if this were a sci fi fantasy horror list, both of them would be on it pretty high. But... neither Buffy nor SPN are sci-fi shows. So they don't fit on the list. Same with Highlander, which I love, but which isn't sci-fi either.

I agree, Newsarama's list was lame. I definitely like yours better. Not sure about Alien Nation being at the top of that list, but I would definitely put it in the top 5.

I'd have to review my numerous years of scifi watching in order to do a list, but I do like yours... a lot! Especially T!SCC! Ended way too soon.
