Calling out Batman fans, or people with a clue about rich people and their servants ;-)

I need some help.

I'm trying to work on a fic for a DC/Marvel ficathon. Fic's going to be Peter Parker/Tim Drake.

Anyway, I finally came up with a premise (about eleven days before I actually have to post the fic*g*) but I ran into one little glitch that could seriously affect the storyline.

I'm setting the fic with a 16 year old Peter, whose aunt just found out he's Spidey and who moved them both to Gotham to get him to stop being Spider-Man. Since she doesn't want to lose her nephew.

She gets a job as housekeeper at Wayne Manor.

Now the question would be, would she move into the manor and would she take Peter with her? The advantage would be to get Peter closer to Tim, and in story, that he'd be farther away from the city and thus according to May, less likely to be able to go out and patrol without her knowing it.

But would Bruce allow his new housekeeper to bring her nephew with her, and where would Peter live? Would they just have quarters at the manor? A place of their own? Are there any Batman fans on my f-list with a clue of how the servants at Wayne Manor would live?

Any ideas on interactions between Alfred and May?

And would Peter have to stay out of Bruce's sight or not? I just can't even remember any mention of Alfred's rooms at Wayne Manor, let out that of any other personnel.

A housekeeper might well have an apartment in the house or in an annexe. I used to teach rich kids who lived in the Weybridge area, and they often had separate servants' quarters which were flats or small cottages in teh grounds.

Could she have negotiated a deal for him to live with her in return for occasional help with yard work and suchlike (temporary waiter when the Boss has houseguests/a fancy dinner party?)

That might work. A small building in the back of the grounds, with Peter getting a after school job helping the gardener. (should give him leave on the grounds and some privacy in May's quarters.)

An interesting story you have here and one that I will definitely check out. I think May would live in the Manor just like Alfred does and Peter would definitely be with her. Bruce would let Peter stay there as well.

Peter could probably come and go as Spidey, especially using his spider-sense to make sure that he can do just that. An upper floor room would make that better for him especially if there is no way for anyone to see him leave there as Spider-Man.

Thanks, I'm just hoping I'll be able to get Tim, Bruce and Alfred right. Alfred and May should get along at the very least.

OMG, are you going to write Bel Air?

I think Bruce would totally allow her to drag the nephew along, he's humane like that. I love Bruce, he's my favourite hero because never evar lets his status of being One of The Good Guys blinds him. Batman didn't just want to stop villains from hurting people, he wants the crazy villains to get better and stop being villains. He was very kind to Harley in TAS "Harley's Holiday".

Wayne Manor is like HUGE, with different WINGS (sections of the manor).

...now what would Aunt May say to Bruce about child labour when she finds out about Robin?

That does sound like the premise of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air doesn't it?*eg* Only with added superheroes.

Though Tim may be a wee bit too cool to be Carlton though.
