Eurovision Song Contest

Just watched the Eurovision and voted for Portugal, I hope it did some good. So far there's mostly a few songs that I really really don't want to win. Like say, those pirates.

This is my Eurovision story.

Back in 2006, my boyfriend and I were visiting Athens and we watched the Eurovision contest at this seedy bar (our trip coinciding with Eurovision was a surprise; we're Americans, we have only a vague understanding that Eurovision exists). I clearly remember the Russian guy's awful haircut, those Finnish dudes, and the German girl singing country music (!!!!). I'm from Mississippi, I'm allowed to be amused by Europeans appropriating the native music of my homeland. Anyway, the next day we're visiting the Parthenon, when this reporter approaches us to get our reaction to the Eurovision winners.

Me: "I think the Finns had it rigged."

You could tell by the look on her face that wasn't what she was expecting to hear.

Those Finnish dudes were Lordi right? At least they were memorable, unlike most of the others*g*
