How do you know if a hamster has died?

My little Buffy isn't moving, I tried touching her, but she didn't respond.

Oh God, I hope I'm wrong. She's only a bit over a year and a half old.

Might see if she is...stiff. If she didn't respond to a poke, though, I suspect the worst. *hugs*

I'd say if she's cold and stiff to the touch, she's passed on.
Can you feel a pulse on her?

If she is stiff and old, eg she's stiff as a board if picked up, she is in hammy heaven. It's a little early though. They usually live 3 years.
