Damn, the spammers are starting to use camouflage.

Just had a spam message in an older post that actually used an icon. Still didn't dare press the link they posted with, but considering their comment had nothing to do with my post, I didn't recognize the name and their journal is completely empty, I just banned the user from ever posting in my lj again, indicated them as spam and deleted them.

Whoa. Spammers getting creative now, aren't they. I got a spam comment like that in one of my public entries, but it was anonymous so I couldn't ban. *sigh* I decided to use the Captcha thingie, hopefully that will deter them.

I've been getting those but not in a while. They're a real pain and I do exactly what you do, report them as spam and delete them.

can't blame you, have to admit I don't like the captcha thing, but that's only for anonymous messages right?

Just don't understand why they keep sending them. Do those things actually work?

I think you can set it up for anyone. I had a girl on my flist and I had to go through captcha whenever I posted comments on her entries. A few times it didn't work and it annoyed the heck out of me. I've just set mine up for anonymous though.
