Hmmm, I grew up with the 1994 cartoon and then the movies, but the impression I've always had of Peter, and why I like him so much, was that he was a sweet geek just coping with his life and doing his part for his community. He was so smart he invented the webbing int he cartoon, and he did a lot of lab work. In spite of superheroing he still has a paying regular job on the side. He made his own costume and due to his secret identity I'm guessing he does laundry a lot.
