Well let's see, he did try to kill Spike*eg* But I wouldn't have created a Giles/Spike community if I hated him ;-)
In answer, I don't see him as just the nice sweet daddy figure that a lot of people seem to make him (even though I do see him as Buffy's father, and believe he loved her as a daughter and did the best he could for her), but I like him plenty as a character*g*
